However, their managerEddie Howe rejected claimsthat he wants to signMcTominayon loan, while initial reports from 90min indicated that United hope to keep him at Old Trafford until next summer, at least, amid continued links to Newcastle and several other Premier League suitors.
Follow-up reports fromThe Telegraphsuggest McTominay is concerned by his limited game-time this term, though, and would be willing to sign for Newcastle before the January 31 deadline. Capped 36 times by Scotland, the central midfielder has played 192 games for United since his debut in 2017.
Elsewhere, reports fromFootball Insiderclaim United have joined Arsenal and Newcastle in the race to sign Spanish prospect Ivan Fresneda from Real Valladolid. Fresneda, 18, has earned rave reviews for his displays this season with a whole host of European clubs monitoring him.
Its understood that the promising right-back has a release clause around the 8.8million mark. He is under contract until 2025, as things stand, but that term in his agreement means United and others could land a bargain this month, with Fresneda also previously spending time within the Real Madrid system.
